        1.  Chemical name: 2-(2’-Hydroxy-5’-methylphenyl)-benzotriazole

        2. CAS  NO :2440-22-4

        3. Introduction: UV-P is a benzotriazole type UV absorber. It has a high absorption in the wavelength of 270~340 nm. It is also efficient for the light stabilization of polyvinyl chloride, unsaturated polyurethane, polystyrene, coatings and lacquers

        4. Specification:

a) Appearance: white to yellowish crystal

b) Melting Point: 128~132℃

c) Content (HPLC) : 99% Min.

d) Transmittance: 440nm≥97% 500nm≥98%

e) Ash: 0.1% Max.

f) Volatiles: 0.5% Max

5.  Property:

a) Odorless, don’t bring smell to polymers.

b) Insensitive to metal ion

c) Non-flammable, non-explosion, non-toxic, harmless to health.

d) Very high photo stability for its strong ability to absorb light especially in UV region (270~340nm)

e) Very stable to heat and can be used in plastic which require high processing temperature.

f) Hardly absorbing visible light, especially suitable for the colorless and the light-colored plastic products.

6 . Applications(base on polymer weight)

a)....Polystyrene: b) Polyvinyl chloride: 0.2~0.5wt% for PS

0.3~0.5wt% for ABS

0.5~2.0wt% for HIPS

b) Polyvinyl chloride: 0.2~0.5wt%

c) Polycarbonate: 0.15~0.3wt% 

d) Polyacrylate: 0.15~0.3wt%

e) Unsaturated Polyester: 0.2~0.4wt% f) Polyurethane: 0.3~1.0wt%

7. Toxicity & Safety

UV-P can be handled as an industrial chemical provided the following handing precautions are strictly observed:

a) Wear gloves to avoid contacting with skin.

b) Maintain a clean and well-ventilated working area

c) Wear goggles and face mask whenever dust is unavoidable to prevent irritation to the eyes and respiratory tract.

8. Package: Net 25kg bag or carton with inner plastic bag.

9. Storage: UV-P should be stored in a closed system and be kept in a dry and dark place without any light
